The Triological Society offers otolaryngologists-head and neck surgeons multiple opportunities to update knowledge and skills in otolaryngology through the Combined Sections Meeting (Winter) and Annual Meeting at COSM (Spring).

Abstract Submission Policies

Submitting authors have agreed at the time of online abstract submission that the material has not previously been submitted to The Laryngoscope or Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology.

Submitting authors also have agreed at the time of online abstract submission that the material in all abstracts has not been submitted for publication, published or presented previously at another national or international meeting and is not under consideration for presentation at another national or international meeting.

The penalty for duplicate presentation/publication is prohibition of all authors from presenting at a Triological Society meeting or at COSM meeting for three years.

The Society retains the first right of refusal to publish any paper presented as a podium or poster presentation at a Triological Society Meeting. All abstracts accepted for oral and poster presentation are the property of the Triological Society.

Mandatory Manuscript Submission to The Laryngoscope or Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology

Oral Presentations – Manuscript submission to The Laryngoscope or Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology is required prior to oral presentation by the deadline outlined below.  Authors who have not submitted a manuscript prior to presentation at the meeting will not be allowed to make a podium presentation.

Poster Presentations – Manuscript submission for poster presentations is optional but encouraged. Poster authors seeking publication of poster materials must submit to The Laryngoscope or Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology.

Manuscript Submission Time Frames

2022 Combined Sections Meeting – no sooner than December 18, 2021, and no later than January 10, 2022
124th Annual Meeting at COSM – no sooner than March 26, 2022, and no later than April 18, 2022

Travel Awards

To help offset travel expenses incurred by medical students, residents and fellows chosen to make presentations at Triological Society meetings, travel funds in the amount of $750 will be awarded to training programs for each medical student, resident, and Fellow selected for a Triological Society podium or poster presentation.

Medical Students must meet the following criteria:

  1. The student must indicate student status and name of training program in the appropriate boxes on the online abstract submission form.
  2. The medical student must submit a Triological Society Student Verification form. The form is available below and must be completed/submitted to the Triological Society administrative office no later than September 10th for Combined Sections Meeting in January and by November 10th for Annual Meeting at COSM in April — email: Beth Slovinski or fax: 402-346-5300. Verification forms submitted after this deadline may not be accepted.
  3.  The medical student must be the first author and presenter as listed on the abstract and any subsequent submissions to The Laryngoscope or Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology.
  4. The medical student must register for and attend the Triological Society meeting.
  5. Travel awards will be issued to the department/institution at the conclusion of the meeting. An award of $750 will be made for each medical student who has fulfilled the above criteria and upon completion of required documents by the department/institution. *Medical students residing in the city where the meeting is held do not qualify for travel awards.
  6. Medical students may receive only one travel award per meeting, regardless of the number of presentations being made at the Triological Society sessions. Medical students are eligible for travel awards for both the Combined Sections meeting in January and the Annual meeting held at COSM in April.
  7. Travel awards are “automatic” if all criteria have been met. All criteria will be verified AFTER the end of the meeting. There is no application process for the travel awards.

Residents must meet the following criteria:

  1. The resident must indicate resident status and name of training program in the appropriate boxes on the online abstract submission form.
  2. The resident must be a Triological Society Resident member (you do not have to resubmit an application if you are already a Triological Society Resident member). Applications are available below and must be completed/submitted to the Triological Society administrative office no later than September 10th for Combined Sections Meeting in January and by November 10th for Annual Meeting at COSM in April — email: Beth Slovinski or fax: 402-346-5300. There is no application fee to become a Triological Society resident member. Applications submitted after this deadline may not be accepted.
  3. The resident must be the first author and presenter as listed on the abstract and any subsequent submissions to The Laryngoscope or Laryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology.
  4. The resident must be in an accredited residency training program at time of submission and presentation. This will be verified by our office at the conclusion of the meeting.
  5. The resident must register for and attend the Triological Society meeting.
