We look forward to our 2012 Combined Sections Meeting in Miami Beach.
Thank you to our Program Chair, Stephen Park, MD, and our Section
Program Liaisons, Douglas Girod, MD, Albert Merati, MD, Samuel Selesnick,
MD, and Dell Yarbrough, MD who, together with the program committee,
have put together an exciting, innovative program with papers and panel
presentations of interest to both academic and community based
otolaryngologists. The scientific program will feature state of the art
podium and poster presentations, including special sessions given by
world renowned otolaryngologists-head and neck surgeons. Presentations
will cover the full array of subspecialties and will include dynamic
sessions of “How I Do It”, “Point/Counterpoint”, and “What’s the Latest
and Greatest?” The meeting includes industry exhibits and numerous
opportunities to network with colleagues.
We hope to see you in Miami Beach and are confident that our scientific
forum will meet all of your expectations. Your participation in the

All meeting events will take place at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. The
Loews offers a fusion of cosmopolitan and Art Deco influences that
combines beach front elegance with top-notch amenities for the premier
Miami Beach luxury hotel experience.
The hotel is situated directly on the beach in South
Beach's fashionable and diverse Art Deco District minutes from shopping,
restaurants, and nightlife.
The
hotel completed a $50 million renovation in January of 2011 consisting
of completely remodeled guest rooms, meeting space, hotel lobby and the
addition of an 18,000 square foot spa and fitness center. Guests will enjoy direct access to the beach, a wide variety of
water sports, an oceanfront swimming pool, Jacuzzi and private cabanas.
Numerous children’s activities are available at the Loews.

The
meeting registration fee includes entrance to the scientific sessions
and exhibit hall, poster viewing, program materials, continental
breakfast each day, lunch, the Welcome Reception, and the Poster
Reception. The Thesis Seminar is offered at no additional
charge to candidates and potential candidates for Fellowship in the Triological Society. Pre-registration is required. The Guest Passport,
for guests/spouses accompanying a registrant to the meeting, provides
entrance into the exhibit hall, the Welcome Reception and Poster
Reception, and the Guest Hospitality Suite.

Information and Reservations at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel
Online reservations are encouraged: Credit

order to receive the discount rate, you must book through the
Triological website. You will not receive the discounted rate by going
through the Loews site.
Group Rate: $259
per night, single/double occupancy. An additional charge of $50 per
night will apply for each additional person 18 years of age or older.
Reservations may also be made by phone. Phone
reservations may be made toll-free: 877-563-9762. Be sure to
reference “The Triological Society” meeting when booking your
reservation.
Reservation cut off date: Reservations must be made prior to
January 6, 2012, to be eligible to receive the group rate.
Reservations made after this date or when the contracted room block has
been filled are subject to rate and space availability.
All reservations must be accompanied by a major credit card and one
night’s room and tax deposit. Reservations must be cancelled at least
72 hours prior to the scheduled arrival in order to receive a full
refund for the deposit.
We encourage you to make your reservations early as the conference rate
is based on availability. The Triological Society is legally bound
to fill our room block. Staying at the Loews Miami Beach helps
the Society avoid paying costly attrition penalties. We appreciate your
assistance.

Travel Discounts/Services
Airport Location: Miami
International Airport is the closest airport located approximately 30
minutes from the Loews Miami Beach. However, less expensive flights can
often be found into Fort Lauderdale International Airport which is
approximately 45 minutes from the hotel.
Air Transportation: Special
meeting discounts are available on American Airlines. These
special discounts area available by calling American directly at
800-433-1790 from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm CST. Be sure to indicate the name of the meeting and
refer to the authorization code A1812BJ to obtain special fares. This
discount can be booked online at
www.aa.com/group for AA/AE flights only, without a ticketing
charge. Allow at least 1 business hour for AA.com loading and use the

Taxi:
Service from Miami International Airport is a flat rate of $33 one way
and will take approximately 30 minutes. Service from Ft. Lauderdale
International Airport are metered and a fare will run approximately $80
each way.
Shared
Ride Shuttle:
SuperShuttle offers convenient and affordable shared van airport
transfers 24 hours per day, 7 days per week from Miami International

Limousine Service:
Available through Aventura Worldwide Transportation Services, the

Triological Society invites you to meet the poster presenters and
discuss their presentation of the latest clinical and research
material. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be available.
The Vice President’s Welcome Reception (included in
registration fee)
Thursday, January 26 6:15pm - 7:30pm
You
are invited to mingle with your colleagues and guests and meet
Triological Society candidates, as well as discuss the first day of the
program and the upcoming events. This reception will be hosted by the
Vice Presidents. Attendees will enjoy the outdoor location, overlooking
the ocean and white sandy beaches of South Beach. Light dinner and
beverages will be provided.

Continental breakfast will be available in the exhibit hall and poster
area every morning. Morning and afternoon refreshment breaks will take

Friday, January 27 at conclusion of morning scientific
session
Competition will be a four man scramble format. Each residency program
should develop foursomes of residents and alumni from their
institution. Individual players and foursomes are invited to
participate. The golf outing will be coordinated by Susanne Marx,
The Golf Event Company. All golfers must pre-register. Onsite
availability cannot be guaranteed. The registration form and additional
information will be posted.
Requests for refunds must be made by or before January 12, 2012.

Continuing Medical Education
The American College of Surgeons designates this live

Triological Society Thesis Seminar
Building Your
Triological Thesis: Planning, Starting and Finishing
Thursday, January 26, 12:15 - 1:30 pm
This seminar is aimed at Triological Society active
candidates as well as those interested in pursuing Active Fellowship in
the Triological Society. Seminars are open to Triological Society
Fellows. In this seminar, candidates will learn how to select and focus
an appropriate topic and research question, how to select a study design
based on the research question, select variables, and some basic
principles of study conduct. The seminar will also present some useful
tips on organizing, analyzing, and presenting the data, and sources of
funding for continued investigation. The seminar will be conducted
by Maureen Hannley, PhD, the Society’s research and grants consultant in
otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.
YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER TO
ENSURE THAT MINIMUM REGISTRATION NUMBERS ARE MET - walk-ins may not be
accepted. There
is no fee for this seminar.
